Diagnostic Tool

Hi Guys,

Anyone knows a good generic BMW diagnostic tool or specific to 5Series (525i '04 E60) for reading all the electrical faults with codes? If it is reasonably priced, I would like to buy one as indy's here in Oz would charge stupid. If I can I use the same tool on other manufacturer that will be a plus (sorry if I am sounding newby, I am).

Cheers.

I use Vag-Com from Ross Tech its made for my volkswagen but the obd option works with my 530i I can read codes and a few other variables and can clear all codes. I cannot change or reprogram computer settings though. plugs into my obd port with a usb cable to my notebook. Look them up on the web call them direct they may have one that works better now I bought mine about 5 years ago for $150.

Question C110 OBD Tool

So i got my C110 OBD tool in the mail, and try to update it on my computer so i can read SRS codes. However, i think my Windows version is too new for the program to work properly. I'm running Vista at the moment. Has anyone been able to get this to work before on Vista?

its good tool so far no issue at all.
the only thing make me using 2 devices is that Creator C110 it can do Component testing such as Testing Edc & Self leveling, Injectors & these function i cannot find them in my other tool "I910 ICARSOFT" and that tool have the same software. but with bigger screen & it can access more body Control Module then c110.

the advantage of Creator c110
1. fast & small
2. Compenet Testing
3. some time i got the error in this tool butter then icarsoft

Advantage of icarsoft I910
1. it have access for more Body Module for E65, E60

Disadvantage.
1. without Componet testing "they may add this in the next update

from where you can buy Icarsoft with Very good price.

Thank you hooch999, Is DCAN and K+DCAN the same? What connectors does my '04 525i E60 has OBD1 or OBD2?

if you would like the tool only for Testing then icarsoft or Creator c110 will be easy to use without laptop.

the Inpa tool need laptop and windows 32Bit for me its a must tool you should have and its very cheap but not for diagnostic mostly for Coding.

if you need some thing very very good & easy tool in diagnostic and coding at the same time go for BMW Dash. you can enable very nice feature in your car such as Digital Speedo and enable free tv while driving and more cool things. at the same time the tool can scan all your car with one button you don't need to go through all module. but it will not give you description for the error code. only it will show error code then you can google the code description.

i think all the 3 is must tool for me.

Thanks Ayman, that is definitely out of my league here as I don't know much on the electrical side of the vehicle. But appreciate your contribution.

Guys, I have the K+DCAN cable working with INPA. That allows me to read the error memory, but I cannot see anywhere to read the P???? Code that I see in most different posts as diagnostic codes. Is INPA good enough to read all error codes from the an E60, or is there other tools which an read more information?

Currently, I am trying to diagnose two codes from INPA 9C77 and 9C54.
