00 540i Massive coolant loss from rear of block

Replaced all of the heater core hoses and the car is still losing coolant. Car has been sitting dormant for two months now and I am tired of driving our spare car.

I've double checked all the hoses for proper fitment and all seems well. I'm guessing its the freeze plug? Does anyone happen to know where the location of the plug is?

Head is not cracked and the temperature during the time of failure was well above freezing.

Anyone have any ideas on what it may be? Google results are very minimal and not very helpful.

Going to charge the battery now and start the car up just long enough to pull it up on the ramps.

Thanks in advance.

Ed, I thought about that as it is the last thing I need to replace. However , with the size if the weep hole and the volume of coolant loss, it just doesn't add up.

Judging from the standing coolant, I am going to pull the intake and replace the VP and related rings.Click image for larger version

Yep another vote for Vally Pan. Symptoms sound like what I experienced on my 540.

Yep, another vote for Valley pan with updated picture. Given the high pressure of the cooling system, when engine gets to full temperature, it doesn't take much of a gap for coolant to fill up the valley pan area

+1 valley pan gasket. When mine was leaking it would puddle up dead center of the oil pan on the ground. Good luck.
