Yellow "service eng soon" light comes on

So on my way home from work tonight, light comes on, smell of gas & exhaust, car shakes and a loss of power. I suspect a HPFP but who really knows. I'm currently at 25K miles.

Already have gone through one HPFP at 2K but didn't experience these symptoms, I had long cranking starts which lead to BMW changing out the pump and a software change.

I called BMW and they want me to bring it on in the morning. So my question is can the car be driven in this condition w/o further damage or even completely stopping on me in transit? It's about a 30min drive. Or do I have to call a toe company. Thank you for the help.

Do you feel lucky? Reliable answer not possible given data above.

Recommend you read codes. If no can do, do what you feel in the morning.

OK, you're looking for direction: Tow truck if apprehensive; drive if adventurous.

Yeah, good point. Still under the 4yr free tow plan, let them worry about it. The flip side is waiting roadside for hours!

After a BMW covered tow in this morning, I found out it's the dreaded injector banks that might be the SES culprit. Thank God for the warranty coverage.
