New to the 745LI Scene

Just bought my first BMW, a 2003 745LI with 24's (yes 24s, and selling them to get 22's by spring) picked it up for $10,000 with the rims, stock wheels and 142,000 miles. I love this car and look forward to modding it some more! Let me know your thoughts!

Surprisingly not too bad for 24's Any ideas on which 22's you're going to rock?

I forgot to say "Welcome"!

What are your thoughts on the Audio portion? Ive been on the fence about scrapping the entire OEM setup ...just weighing the pro's n con's of what will be lost and gained. Im pretty fed up with the stock stuffs

I'm going to run a 3-way setup in front with custom pods in the doors for the woofer, I think subs under seats will be scrapped and then probably 2-12's in the trunk ported through the rear deck and a 2-way setup in rear. I want good sq but will still use rears when passengers in the car. I haven't put a lot of thought in yet because I'm really swamped right now...

No worries! I've been here for a while and seen a lot of obnoxious/disrespectful new members, but FinishLine is definitely not one of them

Good luck with the mods man. The VIP brand is nice for wheels - but looks great if on coilovers or a cup kit. Lookup the member pelonx1st and you'll see what I mean. He is running one of the best setups on bimmerfest.

If you have the Logic 7 (with the underseat subs), don't scrap the subs. Get a harness from the member "Technic" which allows you to add an amp to the Logic 7 and run subs in the trunk.

Why delete the subs when you could just add more in the trunk and make it great?

The only reason I was thinking of scrapping the under seat subs is I believe I am getting crackling from the drivers one sometimes.

That would be symptoms of your L7 AMP going out bro nothing wrong with your subs, My plan to upgrade the sound is to replace oem floor subs with two earthquake sws xi 8"subs, put a 12" sundown SD-2 sub in the ski pass and power all this using a Hifonics HFi1000.1D amplifier with the help of technics L7 harness. I'm not looking for heart stopping window shattering bass just a bit more solid punch so that would do it

I'm glad we now have another Wisconsin member on board, looks like you're roughly 3hrs away from me dayamn!!

Im not necessarily looking for an obnoxious bass outside the car either, just a little bit more. What amp do guys use to replace the L7 amp?

Where are you located?

You can't replace the L7 AMP with an aftermarket amp, most features on your car wouldn't work hence the harness I posted. What it does is it allows you to..

- add a trunk sub and/or power the underseat woofers with a separate amp, no need to cut OEM wires or harness itself
- quick underseat woofers connectors with 12AWG wires labeled for easy connection to your aftermarket amp outputs

Read the sellers thread for more info on it. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...433525&page=12

This might also give you a few ideas on how to go about your setup http://bmw745project.blogspot.com/p/sound.html

I'm in Sheboygan
