What is this warning light

On my way to work this morning a warning light came on near to the oil temp gauge.

Its a picture of a white car, looking on top with a very feint red lide at the front. Just checking its the symbol ids the same one used when the doors are open so maybe its the bonnet but why only when braking

It only comes on after heavy braking and then goes back off.

Any ideas

I also notice on my car that when I close the hood of my car, sometimes the left side (if I am facing the car) doesn't close completely and I have to get out and add a little extra pressure to snap it shut. So now I just close it from the left handside. I have also seen pictures of the 7 in car shows, where the very same part of the hood is not closed all the way. I guess my point is, that side of the hood doesn't seem to always close properly and takes just a little extra pressure.

When you say "left" I assume you mean "right"?
