hello

hello, i have an auto repair shop, so i have a fairly good understanding of all things mechanical. we ( my father and i) recently purchased a 97 bmw 318i. was starting fine at first, we fixed the door handle and in the process i believe we have somehow set off the anti theft. we only have the one key w/ a chip in it. ive been researching this for three weeks now and tried everything. ie; opening the doors diconnecting the battery waitining w/ the ignition in the run position blablabla. have even picked up a maroon label 413 tryin to bypass the ews. i dont get stumped too often but this one has def gotten the best of us. can anyone offer any advice?

Welcome to Bimmerfest. I've moved your thread over to the E36 forum, you should get more help in here. Search around for EWS issues, you might find the answer to your problem.

Good luck,
Tim

ive researched the ews issue and everything keeps coming back to the same answers but they arent workin. i located the small green wire inside the glove box as well as found a maroon label 413. but when i trace it out to the computer harness there is no pin in the #66 pin. so maybe i was informed incorrectly. anyidea were i can get the proper wiring diagrams?

One of the regulars here should chime in with wiring diagrams. Good luck.

there are two little green wires that tie into a big green wire in the front port near the fuse box. does that disable the ews?
