2004 BMW X3 - will these fit??

I am re-posting this request.

I have 2004 BMW X3.

I am looking to buy used but original BMW 17" Rims that were used on a 2002 325xi. I am planning to use them for my 17" winter tires - 235/55 R17

The specifications of the used Rims as supplied by the seller are:

offset of 43 mm with bolt pattern of 120 mm; and other details provided were

205/50/17 225/50/17 E46 E90 E61

Will these Rims fit my car?

Thanks,

Why not try the tirerack thread here on the "best of bimmerfest" section. Gary the tirerack guy is very sharp and can most likely give you an answer quickly. After all, this is their business - tires and wheels. Good luck!

I think you will find that those rims are too narrow for 235 section width tires.

They are likely 7" wide, and you should have 8" wide wheels. (Hub diameter is the other measurement the seller should provide.)

These wheels will without a doubt fit your x3. Same bolt pattern, centerbore, and close offset. You may want to use a skinnier tire as has been mentioned. Maybe a 225/60 r17 would work well. Narrow is better in the snow anyways.

Thanks Supercourse and mlukas161 for your responses.

The thing is I have winter tires with me of size 235/55 R17, and if the wheels are narrower than 8", then it might be an issue.

Now that I check the tirerack site, I see that for most 235/55/17 tires, the allowable wheel width is 6.5" - 8.5".

(For any tire model, you can click on its SPECS. tab to get all the detailed info. For most tires - some don't have complete specs.)

A bigger range than I thought.

BMW specd. a 8" wide wheel which is on the upper side of the allowable range.

A 7.5" wide wheel would be right in the middle of the range.

A 7" wide wheel IS within spec. - it's just that you would notice the sidewall slopes inward a bit.

The fit will vary somewhat between tire models as two tire makes/models of the same nominal size are not necessarily identical in size.

Thanks for the update Supercourse...

I shall check with the seller for the wheel width...

BTW, is 43 mm offset ok?
