E90 spare - Star Spoke 189

Any objections to using an e90 wheel/tire combination as a spare setup: Star Spoke 189 wheel ET34 offset with 225/40/18 tire.

thanks

tire diameter will be an inch off.

should be a 225/45/18. if its an AWD this will cause DSC issues. it may even cause dsc issues on a rwd car.

Do you have the 528i in your sig? If so, you are posting this in the wrong forum. Assuming you actually have an F30 or have one on order, the run flats aren't as bad as they were a couple of years ago. I see little point in sacrificing fuel economy and handling by slogging an entire wheel/tire around in the back of the car all of the time.

I am coming off a lease from a 528i M-Sport (which had Dunlops DSST's performance tires and a space saver tire - figure that one out) and have a 335i on order. My 2 reasons for switching to non-RFTSs: cost of replacement before my lease end, I am sure they would not last 45k; and the fact that even all-seasons RFTs would not handle 4-6 inches of snow compared to my current Continentals DWS have lasted me over 50k miles. Other than that I have no issues with RFTs.

The E90 spare is 1in off, and believe it or not, the E90 spare does not clear the brakes of the 335i, we had to get a bigger rim,
the cost of the spare (because of Bridgestone) is extremely expensive, we had to price our F30 tire at over $400 to make money

So is that the same story for the F30 328i as well. I was told that an E90 wheel maybe an option for mounting winter tires on but if they do not fit over the brakes, then that will not work??

I'd like a normal steel wheel so I can just put a full size RFT in case of emergencies on a long drive. Then I could just swap the tire over at a regular tire shopt and have a full set again with no waiting.
