Replacing Runflats in Australia

2011 x3 2.0d ....See this question posted a bit but not so lucky with finding definitive answers. Would like to replace my 245/50R18 pirelli P Zero runflats with more durable tyres for occasional bad dirt and rocky road travel. Any improved ride or fuel economy would just be a bonus...just cant feel confident taking these Pirellis over sharpish rocks however occasionally or carefully....and yes I do hate the feel of them... But visiting a National Park this morning and turning back at a rocky wet patch was the last straw...! ..and should be unnecessary in a vehicle with all wheels driven , a great drivetrain, and better ground clearance than many full on 4WDs.
If I can put them on the same rims as is widely claimed, what size do i look for and what brands have others in Australia chosen for this task. Separate question is repair kit or spacesaver spare kit...happy to deal with that. Mainly concerned that the rims are actually not "different" and that I will not introduce instrument issues by altering the rolling diameter..
As i understand it the tyre monitoring system is just looking for diameter changes from your last calibration...so doubt that should be an issue.....but are the rims really the same in Australia..?
Empasise dont want to go back to 4WD rockhopping...been here done that..just want to more confidently exploit the x3s potential.
