Need some advice please

Hi all. I am new to the BMW forum. I currently drive a mercedes but an looking to buy a BMW. Specifically I have some questions for all you 7-series people out there. I found a 2004 745i with 49K miles for $19,600 from a private party. I haven't driven it yet but according to the owner it is pristine in every way. I have looked on all the appraisal sites and there appears to be quite a range of prices on this vehicle. Do you think this is a good price? Also, what are the pretty common problems/pitfalls of this vehicle? I know all vehicles have issues but what can I expect to repair or replace with certainty on this model car?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance

Transmission, alternator, coils, oil leaks, carbon build up, vanos solenoid, everything goes wrong. Not as reliable as your Merc.

You should be able to step into the newer body style 06 to 08 for right around 22k. Less issues than the 2002 to 2005 model.

Don't know about Florida but in Texas you're not going to get close to that price with 49,000 miles for a 2006- 08. I really don't want one with 90k+ on it. I'm under the impression that after 02 and 03 thing didn't seem to break down as much as much of the problems were fixed by software upgrades. Is an 04 model a"run as fast as you can" model? I am willing to factor in the occasional alternator , coils , routine stuff but I'm not willing to change out a whole transmission at 70k miles as a certainty.

OK but not a great price. Nada puts it at around 16.9K
TOTAL PRICE $14,625 $16,875 $18,775
$23,350
