Warning! Use this system only when traffic conditions permit. (What is this?)

New owner of an 2009 x5 35d and after I start up the vehicle I get this prompt in the Nav screen that I have to accept, or wait about 10 seconds and it goes off automatically. Was curious if I had something checked in the rear view camera controls that causes this prompt to come up every time? A little annoying.

Prompt:
"Warning! Use this system only when traffic conditions permit. Safe vehicle operation is the driver's responsibility. For further details see owners manual."

Would check owners manual if I knew where to even begin looking!!

Thanks,
Brad

I believe that is the standard safety message. I haven't found or seen a way you can turn off this message via any options. I have seen others comment that if you decide to program your X5, you can then turn off this message, although I haven't tried that yet.

This is a liability-limiting standard warning--watch the road, mainly, unless it is relatively safe to look at the screen. It has nothing to do with inputs you have made.

Thanks for the feedback. Didn't think it was anything i could turn off, as i have gone through about every option, but i am learning that this vehicle has more options than i know what to do with and didn't want to take the chance of it being something as simple as a button being pressed. Guess i am living with it. Thanks!
