Headrest will not go down???

So I finally picked-up my 335i last Thursday afternoon and took it back to the dealership on Wednesday this week (6 days later).

Primary reason was a misalighment of the trunk lid (below the rear quarter panel and too far forward on the driver's side).

Second reason the headrest on the passenger seat would not go all the way down to touch the seat back. No problem with the driver's seat headrest.

Have any of you had this problem? The Service Advisor is telling me "they're all that way" and he thinks that's how they were designed. He says if I lift the one on the driver's seat it also will NOT return to the bottom. What?? BTW: from the way he conveyed this message I may find that they in fact did this with the driver's seat headrest already.

This seems very odd to me. Looks like I'm going to have to fix this myself, although he said they would check with BMW engineers and get back to me.

Also FWIW: While they have the car there for 3 days they have also loaded the Last State update for the ASS system - thank you, that thing was driving me nuts!

I'm in the same boat as you ,do a search. I went to the site frogman posted and if I could only get the pin out to remover the seat back it looks like a simple fix. The only problem I have is removing the pin. They assembled the seat back with two different types of pins, one type is a straight pin and the other is what they call a "TREE" pin. I have the tree pin and I just can't remove it no matter how I tried. I don't care if I destroy it ,they only cost $.44 for a new one but I just can't remove it. Any suggestions. TIA
cheers
vern,

You can always just do the temporary fix and push the pin in to lower the headrest. That doesn't require removing the seat back.

The only downside is that if you lift the headrest back up, you'll have to do the procedure again.

It's the pin in the right post hole that is holding the headrest up via a tooth in the post.

You just need to get to it to move the headrest down all the way.

Success at LAST I went with the temporary fix ,nobody will lift the head rests up in my car.
The fix was a little different than described. If you get a flat screw driver at the edge of the cover when you rotate it clockwise and counter clockwise it will pop off, just make sure you get the screw driver blade at the EDGE of the cover. Push the mechanism to wards the post, Push in the leaver at the same time and push the head rest down. Before you go all the way down to the seat back press the cover back down rotating it clockwise and counter clockwise to the seat. Now the head rest is where IMO it should be and it looks great. Good luck
cheers
