Help selling E39
I have a 1998 528i, lots of problems with the car, don't want to spend money on repairs it needs a transmission rebuilt, new brakes, thermostat, driver chair broken (cannot move), some damage to the body: bumps on roof/ hood + scratches on painnt. In addition to all of this theres other annoying sounds coming from the car that i havent even checked yet. Car is at 282000km. I doubt anyone would want to buy it to keep for themswlves, & im not good enough with cars to take it apart & sell the parts on my own, I'm wondeing how should i go about selling it? Will garages take it or should i sell it online? How much should i expect for it?
All help greatly appreaciated

if it needs a trans, then the cost of the trans is going to be more than the value of your car.
hate to say it, but you are the lucky owner of a PARTS CAR. but that's not to say that a garage won't buy it. They are always looking for a parts car. but they won't give you any money for it. probably $1000 tops.

Actually, you might be lucky to get a few hundred for it. $1,000 seems awfully generous considering the age and condition.
