IPhone 5 NOT COMPATIBLE with BMW apps
I picked up the Iphone 5 for Verizon this morning. I set up the phone, and put all my apps back on including all of the BMW apps. I just tested out the new phone with the Lightning to USB cable in the center console USB port to the car, and unfortunately, none of the apps work. The BMW connected app, Pandora, MOG, Stitcher or Aupeo, do not connect with the iPhone 5. This really sucks, as we were led to believe that these apps would still work. Maybe Im doing something wrong ( I don't think I am). MOG, Stitcher and Pandora do try to connect, but ultimately do not. The BMW Connected app doesn't even attempt to make a connection. Hopefully updates will be coming soon

Ah, you should be using the USB cable in the center storage compartment, not the glove box. Glovebox port is for saving profiles and uploading music to the HDD.
Regardless, the office functionality works over bluetooth.

Technic swears his works with Apps, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I wouldn't refuse delivery. I will try again. The phone though is so awesome. Verizon's LTE is AMAZING. Worse comes to worse Ill connect my kids Ipod touch to the cradle and use apps that way.

This would not surprise me a bit. A friend of mine is having trouble with his I-Phone (4) in his one year old Jeep Grand Cherokee. The dealer called the Chrysler tech line to troubleshoot and they told him it's because his version of the phone is too new.
Apple made several changes to the 5 that folks are not going to be happy about.

I've been using IOS 6 (same os version as the iPhone 5) for over 3 months, and the latest version works great: Office, Pandora, BMW Apps, BMW Connected app, etc.
My iPhone 5 is arriving tomorrow morning (cheers for FedEx Saturday delivery!) and will update with my impressions.

Not surprised. Apple updated all the hardware and BMW needs to update theirs to support it.

Works fine for me too. iPhone 5, 2012 (may 2012) BMW 528i etc. All seems to work via the USB connection.

I don't know why mine is not working? I figured it should. I will have to re-test it tomorrow.

iTunes Match with iDrive and IOS6
I had received a replacement iPhone 4S under warranty which has been setup with iTunes match from the get-go.
My old one had a lot of music on it, so it worked great even though some of the Cloud-based music wasn't playing. Since I can't select which songs to sync to the new phone (due to iTunes Match), I can't play any music since all I have are empty playlists. Was told that IOS 6 would actually stream music rather than download but I still can't get any music to show in iDrive. I assume this will be the same with the iPhone 5. Has anyone gotten this to work using IOS6 ? Thanks! Wolfman |

I tried again, and I still can't get it to work. I don't know why it's not connecting. I can't play music either. Very weird

Same problem with me in our Odyssey when I switched my phone to iTunes Match. The obvious workaround is to use the download feature on those playlists so that the songs will be physically present on your phone. Now that most of my music is in the cloud, I have plenty of room for my critical playlists on a 32 GB phone to address this issue.

Good news about apps, but I need to know if the iPod function works for music. I'm over 5000 miles away from my car and my iPhone 5. Does anyone have feedback on music through USB in the center console?
Thanks!! |

Works fine, connect it up and the music appears on your screen as always. Identical to my iPhone 4.

As stated before, the Combox 3.5.4 firmware version works fine with iOS 6, not the other way around. The reason that I emphatize this so many times is to clarify for forum members that the issue is in the iOS 6 and not in the car. So there should be no complaints at the dealer that something is not working right in the car and the iPhone 5 or iOS6. |

I just wanted to update everyone and Technic. I tried connecting my old iPhone 4S to the USB port in the center console, and sure enough, BMW apps isn't connecting either. So it turns out that my USB port is defective. I apologize to anyone for misleading you into thinking that the iPhone 5 is incompatible. It appears it is. The problem seems to be hardware on my end. Hopefully BMW will replace the defective USB port and it will start working.
