What to do with my 335is - dinan stage3?

Hey guys-
I've been driving my '11 335is for a year now, totally stock. Now I'm getting bored and want to supercharge this thing. What's the best mods to do?? my budget is 7k. Main concern is performance (hp / speed)- Not looking to mod the body, I am happy the way it is (white on red / convertible). I was looking into Dinan stage3 + oil cooler + intercooler + carbon intake, which runs me about $7 and gets me a nice dinan badge. But since I'm not a "car guy" I figured i'd check with u guys to see what better options are out there.

Thanks much

You won't be very happy when you discover your suspension has deficiencies, made much more noticeable by increased power.

Recommend you look into suspension upgrades + LSD before you juice your engine. You may be surprised @ how much power you already have.

And...Dinan? Good Lord. You'd do well to look around, particularly at solutions with integrated meth at the chip level.

Spend $500 for a JB4 & a laptop connection. The IS should run over 350whp in CA even with its crappy 91 gas. I run a mix of 93/100 octane & have dyno tested at over 375whp which would equate to over 430bhp. Dinan advertised in bhp unlike all the other venders which post whp figures. A Dinan 390bhp Stage 3 is about 331whp. Pure stock my 335IS is 319whp.

I have a Dinan Stage 2 Performance Engine Software/Boost Upgrade on my car. If I were to add anything else, the very next thing would be their LSD (if I had a MT) followed by the soon to be announced coil over suspension.

Best as a first mod, LSD has pronounced effect with all transmissions.

Dinan is a Quaife with increased price.

Wavetrac significantly less than both as is mfg'd in US of A, not England. Meets or beats. From personal experience, excellent.

Cal, since its Saturday and I just got up and I'm feeling lazy, any LSD for AWD that you know of off the top of your head. I'm feeling my subconscious saying to me "you need an LSD". 2011 E90 with orange reflector delete so far. Off topic and also discussed to the extreme, but is there or is there not a Koni FSD that fits that AWD car? Just in front? I plan on this mod and will use OEM springs. FYI I am not handy with a wrench. Info is conflicting in places.

Curious myself - way overdue to graft a 4WD torque vectoring drivetrain to my Wrangler, but that project's pushed back. Maybe this Fall.

As I understand it, and that's no more than 'thought I heard,' xDrive is e-diff front and rear; torque vectoring mid. Don't know if mid's e-diff too, but would be consistent.

My pref: no e-diff....something like Wavetrac or Quaife, all 3. Evidently, nobody's done that for a YJ. Both have no units for xDrive.

Wouldn't trust myself to talk 'bout FSD's for xDrive - Tire Rack's good bet, info that.

I like Dinan stuff because of the warranty and their LSD for the 335is is MT only.

You are going to pay about 7K for the parts. Did you compensate for the install price? You will probably look at another 700-1000 for install.

Sounds like a deal - $8000 for a 12whp gain.

There are many other aftermarket solutions out that that will yield the same if not more gains for a whole lot less money! I'd recommend you check out the following options before you bite the bullet on the Dinan stuff!

Cobb AccessPORT Flash tune
aFe stage 2 intake
Evolution Racewerks Front Mount Intercooler
Evolution Racewerks Sport or Competition (dual) oil cooler(s)
AR Design catless downpipes

This will allow you to run the Cobb stage 2+ aggressive maps (93 octane), you will get a 31% increase in HP and 21% increase in TQ over stock on the 335is

Show us - might be something new.

Edit: Found it - evidently not for my Step either - I run Wavetrac suitable for MT, Step; DCT/335is.

Oddly, could not find a unit at Quaife's web site, yet vendors offer Quaife LSD's for E9x. Maybe Quaife USA has diff info but I gotta go - have a look....

What's striking is that Quaife & Wavetrac have no problem with BMW automatics; Dinan does. 'Sup w'dat? Click on kitty to reflect.

See attachment of Dinan Stage 3 on the 335iS. You can have it verified by the Dinan team also.

The Dinan stage 3 modsm FMIC, FFE, and OC are rock solid. RENNtech is another option for a tuner. Whatever you do DO NOT go with the Dina CF CAI it deletes the second radiator.

Attached is the RENNtech tune numbers I now have on my 335iS. Its a comparison of the stock intake w/K&N filter vs the aFe Stage 2 Elite SI (Custom Sealed).

Stock intake was ran in the lower temps

I have CP-e highflow catted DPs now installed. Havent had it dyno yet since the DP install.

OK thought it may be that Dinan doesn't do welded ring gears, but chart [scroll down] here shows MT's have welds. Why doesn't Dinan do automatics like other LSD's?

Dang I didn't realize Dinan's due South, Morgan Hill....maybe I'll stop by & ask. Unless someone has an answer now.

Here's what I mean by a welded gear and the problem to resolve.

Why I chose Wavetrac. Excellent rep represented by HP Autowerks. Kindly check price. Have yet to hear of a problem Wavetrac didn't cover, and those are few. Quaife too. Mine's performed flawlessly; is seamless. My motor somewhat enhanced, power & torque superset of 335is - you'll have no worries w/Wavetrac.

Whee doggies! $7k'll getcha LSD + subframe bushings + coilovers + M arms & sways, including rear camber arms + toe arms & maybe M strut brace.

Spiritual revelation and a better world.

Dinan?

I read a post over on E90, guy had 2 newer is's and Dinan couldn't get their tune on either of them, so just a heads up in case there is a change that Dinan hasn't caught up to with the newer DME's.
