Need help fast please read !!!!!
I'm facing a deadline today on a few ebay auctions .... I'm needing to replace my transmission control module, but I don't know which numbers I'm supposed to match. I keep hearing that "the numbers" have to match. Which numbers ??? There's like 5 sets of numbers..... Also, if I do get one with "matching numbers" can I just remove the old one and plug in the new one ? Or do I need to bring somewhere to have it programmed ? I'm pretty handy with auto repairs, but this BMW is a whole different story. Please PLEASE HELP !!!!!

If the numbers are the same, un hook the neg battery terminal and let the car sit for a few minutes, then plug and play. If the numbers are the same then the program is the same and the car shouldnt* know the difference. At least thats my luck when swapping out the DME, or ECU or whatever you want to call it. The numbers are on the control box it should look like a BMW part number.

Ok...let me get this straight, its early and my head is still a bit cloudy lol....
Even if I match the TCM aka ECU it will be embeded with the other car's VIN meaning it will not work in my car ? I was told this same thing from a company that buys, sells and replaces ECU's , but figured it was just their way of securing business. I am torn thouvh because I've read of and heard about others replacing them "plug and play" and having i.stant success. So if anybody out there has some solid iinfo on the matter that can convince me one way or the othe PLEASE post it here. Ive already ordered the ECU I was originally posting about so I guess I'll know soon enough for myself, but Im dying to know now lol.... |
