Hello. Just got into a 2011 335d and notice a yellow LIMIT notice with warning triangle below it. I am not sure what this is or if the dealer needs to look at it. I have never owned a BMW before and bought this from a friend who sells MBs. Any help would be appreciated as I am such the newbie with this awesome car. When it comes on it doesnt affect the performance just gives an audible ring and stays up for a few seconds. Thanks!

My 335d says "LIMIT" when I've exceeded the speed limit I set on the idrive panel.

Yeah I thought it may be in response to a preset "limit" the previous owner set up. The car has 13K but looks brand new. Maybe it has a limit to warn about MPG usage? As it seems the car always displays 27 MPG? As I am new to BMW (previously owned MB E55 and the CLS 63) I am so behind in the onboard CPU and what it can do. I will get some pics up of the warning light soon. Thanks for the quick response!

There's no MPG warning and it takes awhile for the figure to change since it's a rolling average of some sort.

Sounds like a preset speed limit alarm. Suggest review Owner's manual real quick and resolve that one. Certainly nothing wrong with the car.
The MPG should also be reset after each fillup. It will be worth your time to take about 30 minutes and review the OM. I always learn something else I didn't know when I do that. |

99% it is the drvier-set speed warning. You can easily verify this by (a) reading the owners manual, or (b) test it by seeing if it comes on at exactly the same speed each time and goes away a few seconds after you slow down below the speed when the light comes on. The owners manual will tell you how to reset.

Thanks for all the help! It WAS a preset LIMIT (speed) the previous owner had set up. I figured out how to change the limit without reading the OM as the software system is pretty user friendly. I WILL read the OM as soon as I finish reading the many other things on the nightstand. I dont know where the time goes but since turning 40+ it seems I never have enough. I am loving the car even after owning and enjoying the gas guzzling AMG V8s. Torque is king as far as I'm concerned. Thanks again!

I've included a few pics showing my new toy and the warning screen and solution for the next guy who likes Cliff notes instead of the entire novel. Thanks for the info. I have to admit the 55 engine was way more fun than the 63. More torque and less HP but I used to love surprising guys on motorcycles (think foreign not Harley) from a stop. They would all give me the thumbs up as I tried my best to keep up. I will definitely look into the hardware you pointed to. You must have other mods besides the chip to upset a 6.3 owner? Any idea on what it takes to get a 12 or 11 second car in 1/4?
