My IDrive is not recognizing the Y cable

Guys,

I bought this ipod- adapter from tekspree, my 08 535i is not recognizing. When i navigate to the AUX section of my idrive the USB option is not highlighting and in Gray mode..

Any suggestions..

I use a similar cable with the audio jack into the AUX and the USB into a USB charge adapter that goes into the cigarette lighter. It charges the iPhone and plays music via AUX, but you control the music from the iPhone or iPod, not through IDrive.

The control through idrive comes from the USB connection (armrest) so if you have it plugged into the cigarette lighter it won't work.

The Y-cable should be plugged into the Aux/USB Ports in the armrest compartment for full functionality.

Oh, OK. I don't have the USB in the armrest, no USB on my 2009 528i.

I bought this cable from amazon, for $15, including shipping: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o06_s00_i00

The iDrive recongized the ipod, displayed the playlist, and let me choose songs from the playlist. The problem was everytime I started the engine, it would not pick up where it was playing before, and I had to choose the playlist again.

Then I bought an OEM Y cable on eBay for about $55, it works fine now. The seller still has them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-BMW-...item564c90594d

Good luck.
