I have over 200k miles on my coils and still getting 30 miles or better out on the road--smooth as silk--I would suggest the NKG Iridium plugs--

Nobody does that as a routine measure.
Replace a single coil only when bad. The consensus is they either work or they don't. See also: - One user's pictorial DIY for replacing the BMW M54 engine spark plugs (1)

Is Bosch the OEM or NGK the OEM for the Spark Plug ?
I went into 2 different on line webs, one is ECS Tuning, they sell OEM Replacement Spark Plug - it says Genuine BMW Spark Plugs - Bosch for $105.29, then the other named Auto Barn, they also say Genuine BMW - NGK - Laser Platium Spark Plugs for $8.99 / piece, it totally cost me about $54 which is half price less than the above. So which one is exactly the OEM, does anyone have the clue? |

I believe BMW used both NGK and Bosch for OE plugs.
+1 on Poolman's recommendation for NGK Iridium plugs. I've used them for years with great results and zero problems. BTW-OE plugs are platinum. Last edited by johnstern; 09-23-2012 at 09:40 AM. |

Is NGK Laser Platinum plug higher grade than Iridium Plug?
Is Bosch or NGK last 100k before it is replaced again? |

You can use whichever you like, and they all seen to work fine, but you will definitely want to replace at 60k miles.

Iridium are suppose to last longer than platinum, both are great, get which ever one you want.
NGK's are my favorite, I'm using the iridium plugs for the last 3 years. No problems.

I always try to use what was originally installed in the vehicle. We have the Bosch listed as the OEM replacement and the NGK as a second. Spark Plug "High Power" - Bosch FGR-7-DQP (4417), NGK BKR6EQUP (3199)
http://www.eaceuroparts.com/parts/pa...ge/31/2004/375 Coil paks as needed. I agree with the 60k as the longest that I would run a sparkplug. |

When swapping plugs change the coil boots. With the coils they're either good or bad. If yours are fine then no need to change them.
