I had a broken hood cable on my 323i 1985, there are no other ways to open the bonnet, without destroying the bonnet or front grille area. The cable actuates the locking device, which is on the front cross member that supports the radiator etc.
So I asked the experts on the internet, they said the same thing! Being an old smart mechanic, I removed the left front light unit, 4 screws, and there was the broken cable! So much for asking BMW experts on JUSTANSWER, costs an arm and a leg too. My model has the rollers on the rear of the hood, not like my old 735il, which unlocks at the rear of the engine bay. I like the BMW forum, it makes it much easier for me to find information of the real kind. |
