if you soldered in the wrong area..or got too much on the board, just use a desolder vacume tool...and try it again.

The sound is truly amazing with this mod. I had to turn down my subwoofer levels on my amp because the signal is so strong that the bass is hitting harder then it has ever hit. Clarity is unbelievable. No more CD's for me!!!

Really? I'm getting tired of CDs.. I should do it or have someone do it for me . The link I sent earlier, they also do the mod to the FM tuner for $85 + $15 shipping. I'm thinking about sending them mine and having them do it.

It's so easy. I'll do it for free. Just send me with the cable and tuner and the cost to ship it back to you.

Once I get it I can literally have everything done within an hour and have it shipped back ASAP. Your radio won't work for a few days without the tuner but it will be well worth it.

Is the soundgate AUX 3 needed or can you just solder the plug to the appropriate points?

Soundgate is optional. You can use whatever audio plug you prefer.

I hate to sound cheap but I purchased a FM Tuner from Advanced Auto Parts for $15.00. It plugs in the lighter tunes to the radio channel of my choice and lets me play my MP3, USB and music off my phone. It also comes with a remote.

That works too. Sound quality can't compare to how rich and clear it is with this tuner mod. Surpasses cd quality. Perfectly tuned sound system. The signal comes through so clean I had to turn down my settings to all minimum on my JL amp.

I agree but I just don't want to do all that with this car. I have a yukon and a lexus 430 with systems in them and i'm just keeping this basic or I will be completely deaf. But you are right about the sound quality.

I just did the mod today as well.... Easy job , but the sound quality is above and beyond a cd ... Hardest part was fishing the wire to the prefered reference location intended ....

I posted this in another thread but here it is again.

I did this mod last week. Quite simple and works well. I ran my cable from the rear of the car to the front by going up into the head lining. If you pull the door rubbers down to expose the edge of the head lining you can poke the cable into the gap and push the rubber back into place. The gap between the head lining and the 'B' Pillar is big enough to push the cable into and then continue with the front door rubber. Run it right down the rubber until it meets the plastic in the footwell. It took me 5 mins to get the cable from the back to the front and you obviously cant see it. You just need to direct it where you want it from there.

I had to adjust my bass too after mod, turned it from 0 to -2 cause man it was pounding a little too much at low volume lol

thank god some one did a better job of clearing this up for me cause the other threads had no details and was very wordy making the mod seem too hard. So thanks for understanding from all the members.

Real simple. Use a small tip solder iron and very little amount of the solder.

I just ordred a 3.5mm plug and I'm going to do this mod this weekend. I plan on running the wire under the weather stripping like CJ745 did. Anyone have pics or a clear description of how they got the plug to the center console from the drivers door jamb?
