I really don't like the blue, but I am still oh so jealous. Nice writeup and a beautiful car, enjoy it.

Very nice write up.
Excellent car, It really is a very nice choice.
But tell me:
Do you drive around, not trusting your brakes, at over 160 mph, with both your parents in the back seat??

Brilliant colour combination!!

Would you mind answering the following:

1. Was you platinum alcatera liner a custom order?

2. Would you mind including the window sticker in your foto gallery?

3. What does BMW do to detune ~ uptune an M engine?

4. Is the HUD better than your 550i?

5. Did you car come with the next generation iDrive? How do you like the latest iDrive system versus the older one?

Happy motoring!!

Nobody was in the car when I did 162mph. However, my parents are much more tolerant than my girlfriend. Last year during my 550i delivery she would scream whenever we went above 100mph. She still does.

BTW The brakes are very good. They track linearly and are very consistent. I had no issues with heat or brake feel. I just think more initial bite would be good.

how is off the line control? I will never forget almost fishtailing the 550i rwd we test drove.

1) Yes. It is a no cost option if you get the individual full Platinum merino.
2) I don't have the window sticker. They only provide it on US re-delivery. US MSRP would be 112,400. The Full Platinum interior including headliner was $6875. All the other option prices are on the website. Of course I paid a lot less since I got the special ED offer which was available for only a few weeks at launch.
3) I don't know. I didn't notice a lack of power but everyone claims a lift after the optimization service.
4) It's the same HUD but has 2 new things: 1) M-HUD which shows RPM, shift indicator lights like on a race car, Speed, Gear, and Speed Limit. In non M-View it is same as a 2013 550i with SLI.
5)Yes I got the next gen iDrive. It looks slicker and works faster. However I don't see any material benefits. I had 3 issues with it: Slow to react to voice commands, didn't understand the caller names I said which is an issue I never had on 550, and it once sent me in a loop on the nav.

Photos of the scenery were as breathtaking as your new M5. Informative write-up. Thank you. Congrats again. Enjoy your car stateside after re-delivery, and oil pump fix, if applicable.

You guys are nuts! its like if you have a naked hottie (m5) in-front of you, and you're looking at the room decorum or if she's outside the mountains behind her

I know what I'm looking at

Damn right!

There is some interesting scenery. I'll post some more pics later.

One dicey moment - we had a collision course situation with a herd of cows in Switzerland (scary when you are in your brand new 100k car).

I would have gotten out and mooed at them to keep them away from the car

Okay. This is getting interesting--certainly worthy of a photo journal exposé. I suspect there will be a few more interesting stories about your M5 adventures! Those bovine should be auditioning for "Project Runway."

Doesn't the M5 corner better than the F10 with all options - the F10 with standard suspension is no where as planted as the M5.

Why do you wish the M5 has IAS?

How great it would be if one could add arrow descriptors to this picture so that we know what the engine is all about!!

You can't really see if that engine is gorgeous or not. Modern engines just show plastics and hoses. Looks impressive for sure but this is what gorgeous looks like:

As almost everything high-end from the mid 60s it's stunning.
Here's something a bit more modern and modest:

Yes it is. However it is a different leather to the dash. It's soft to touch, but it's got a more durable texture.

The M5 much much better than my previous car. However I just wonder if IAS would add even more - it certainly makes a big difference on the 550i, and the GTR has shown it works well in high performance applications.
