Arrow n00b - Looking to buy X5 Premium - Advice Please...

Hello all, found this forum today, spent two hours already reading up.

I am looking to get a new X5 (gasoline) asap. I am getting the following quotes:

2012 - Conv Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Running Brds, Sirius, 3rd row
MSRP - 62,675 Dealer quote: 58,870 (exact invoice price as per BMWConfig)
Since it is almost 2013, what can I expect to buy this for?

Another X5 quote:
2013 - Conv Pkg, Cold Weather Pkg, Running Brds, Sirius
MSRP - 60,975 Dealer quote: 58,000 (1700 above invoice price, I think)

This is my first new car purchase and I am excited (drove a Civic for 10 yrs), but I would not like to throw my hard earnings due to excitement.

Can someone advice on how much I should pay for these?

Thx in advance for your advice!

At the op. I think the first dealer quote is great. Usually you expect to get invoice+500-applicable rebates. Since its a gasser, I think that's a great price at the moment. If you went to the Olympic drive you can get an additional grand off.

Congrats on moving on up to the BMW, you will not be disappointed.

CAUSE EVERY TIME someone says Lexus has better build quality, one should consider what Toyota their Lexus Engine and chassis platform comes out of and how long that part has been tested in the real world!

Thanks for the valuable input, No14plz... Not sure what 'Olympic drive' is, though

Forgot to ask you, two things. Although you have decided on the gasser, have you considered the diesel, it would be cheaper I assume? Finally what gen civic?

Ah.. yes, I did consider the Diesel, but decided to go with the gas model, since I cannot trust my (new) wife with the Diesel!

I have a 2002 Civic that has close to 200,000 miles on it!

Huh? What, is she developmentally disabled or something???

You feel comfortable with diesel- which is a typical American sentiment- just man up and admit it. But dont blame a wife.

Welcome to the forum...good advice so far

Yes, this is for a premium... Not sure what other options the car has.. but the MSRP on the sticker is the same as I put up here..

I'm quite sure she can't unless she somehow learns to cram a square peg into a round hole.

BMW already thought about that and has made my life more aggravating because of it.

ROFL! I think zillow has made up his mind on the X diesel. If that's his reason, I think that's good enough.
The 8 speed with the n55 is a great combo, and plus if you don't like diesel clatter at idle u r golden.

Correct me if I am wrong but all the Diesel's I've seen seem to have a different set of bodywork on them (vents in front aren't color matching) and those types of things. Can you get an M-sport body kit on a Diesel?

I payed about what you were quoted for the 2013. Bought the BMW X5 Premium in May and the SUV has been a joy to drive. You
will not be disappointed. No problems since SUV was purchased. BMW dealerships gives better discounts on 2012 because they want to clear out their inventory for the
2013 (this was the case in May of this year). The only thing I did add after purchase, was a spare tire as well as the gas shock to hold up the spare tire cover.
