How many F10 owners wash their own cars

How many of you actually hand wash your F10 on a regular basis? Weekly, biweekly. I haven't washed our cars in a while. I take it to a hand car wash that does a pretty good job. I'm not talking about detailing, but just regular wash.

Good question and to step it up a notch how many wax their F 10???....I enjoy both and I would not let anyone take my place and screw up a nice paint job. Timing is when it needs it!!I was driving by the Winter Park, Fl. dealership this past April for MB and they had a guy(vender) with a high pressure hose like you use to clean concrete washing off the entire inventor of new MB cars. This guy had pick up truck with trailer motorized pressure washer parked in the very front of the store taking care of business with this very long hose....no stranger or electrical buffer touching my F10 either.....

I wash and wax my car at least once a month.
And no, nobody else is allowed to touch my car with their impure hands.

Family and business brings me to L.A. frequently and, from what I've seen there, you appear to have some quite excellent hand wash establishments...I've noticed almost every type of exotic vehicle waiting its turn. Not as fortunate here in the DMV; luckily, I enjoy washing my cars...weekly...and waxing them seasonally.

I admit, washing it by hand, twice a month, or something like that.
Waxing is done on a yearly base, by hand, I dare not use the boat buffer.....

I wash weekly(includes vacuuming/cleaning interior), wax monthly. Wouldn't trust anyone else doing it but myself.

I would add I just have the hand wash guy wash only the outside. I tell him not to touch the interior. In the last decade or so, I never used leather conditioner on our car seats. I noticed that using an absorber towel to wipe down the seats and dash is good enough to keep it clean. From my experience, leather conditioner makes the leather worse in time. I read somewhere that cars in the last decade or so have sealed leather so you are only conditioning the seal layer and the leather never absorbs the conditioner. In turn, the conditioner stays on the seal layer and attracts dust and other debris. Again, just my experience.

I drive it through a high pressure washer at the Chevron gas station around the corner from my house then come home and wipe any left over water off it. $6 bucks about twice a week. I don't trust any car wash that has scrubbers that touch your car. My older black car got really messed up with swirl marks from washers.

Due to the drought we’ve had we’re only allowed to wash our cars at home on a designated day during the week. Since one has to work during the week to pay for the bureaucrats who make these decisions I haven’t been able to actually hand wash my car at home in couple of years.

But, we do have a laser wash not too far away and I run it through that once a week and then bring it home and finish it with a wet cloth diaper and a chamois. So far no scratches or swirl marks. Anything is better than the car washes here. I started to try one about 10 years ago and I couldn’t convince the guy that I did not want strawberry perfume in my then brand new 2002 530i. I drove away and have never tried one again.

I hand wash about every 2 weeks or after it has just rained. Hand wax about every 2 months. What do you guys do about dusting in between washes? I just washed the car on Sunday and because of all the highway construction going on, the car already has a noticeable layer of dust after only 1 day.

I wash my cars when they are dirty or when my butler Winthorpe isn't available.

Hmm this is good to know. Does anyone have any other inputs on this? I just bought a leather conditioner and am hesitant to use it now.

By the way, I hand wash my car about every 2 weeks and wax it every 6 months

I take my F10 to Delta Sonic which is a touchless wash in the Chicagoland area at least once a week. I purchased a special for $12.99 for unlimited washes per month. I actually took my 1999 740 IL there for years and it actually looked better than when I was handwashing it. However I do request that they use clean towels when they wipe my car down.

I never wash by hand, it always takes me two hours. I use washing machines with wax polish instead. My E46 M3 and E90 330xd still were looking great after 5 years.

I hand wash as needed (typically weekly, but there are times when it goes two weeks without a bath), wax every six months, treat interior once a year (before the summer sun). When I'm not out and about the car is always garaged.

Haven't been to a car wash in 20 years. My garage is insulated with a cold hose. Warm enough to wash even in winter. I don't even like my dealer giving me the comp wash when I take it in for service. My M-Sport was in last week and the SA put "No Wash" on the order. Even used a yellow high-lite. Picked it up and it was washed with a one inch light scratch in the door. Wasn't too happy.

You need a do not wash this car sign on your steeringwheel for your next visit.

Same here, mostly in spring when pollen is around. You'll get the people screaming about the Duster scratching the car, but it doesn't. I wash my car once a week, unless it's raining or below freezing in winter. Wax about every 6 months. I don't let the dealer do me any "favors" by washing it when it's in for service. Then again, it rarely sees the dealership except for normal maintenance and interim oil changes.

I try to wash my car once a week. I will either head to my Mom's house in the burbs (no driveways in the city ), or I will take a bucket of water from home with my special soap (Lusso Auto Bathe) and wash it at a spray off place. (I get the car wet ($2.00); hand wash, the rinse the car (another $2.00).)

Polish and wax are always done by me, usually with Menzerna products and my Porter Cable.

I love washing my car -- very therapeutic for me.

Anybody here use a pressure washer to wash their car, I am thinking about buying a 1800 PSI unit. Is there any special technique with the pressure washer? I know there are sensors behind the rims, should I avoid directly spraying into the wheel. How about the grille, could a pressure washer damage some component behind the grille?

Thanks

A pressure washer will lift bra covering on your fenders and lights. You can guess how I learned this.

I don't let anyone wash my cars--I do my own wash and detail. My service advisor and I have a joke about it--it's printed at the top of the service invoice "DO NOT WASH."

I do use a pressure washer. I don't think it's a massive PSI (don't remember). It comes in especially handy with the wheels. Sonax + a pressure washer makes life much easier.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to do a detail before winter, but I'm ready in the spring.
