Issues with Dunlop run flat tires.

It seems there are issues with the Dunlap ZR rated run flat tires. Corporate are aware of these issues and nothing has been done. My fiance leases a 2010 535 with sport package which came with Dunlap sport tires that are run flat. I have seen numerous post on this matter. I had a huge argument with my local BMW where the car was leased from and the answer is always you must have hit a pot hole so give us $300 for an alignment and another $500 plus for a new tire. The left front tire developed a bulge a week after the tire pressure monitor alerted us the tire was low we filled it up to spec then a bulge developed. After getting the new tire we kept the old one and noticed a tear not on the outside sidewall but on the inner side wall and others have reported this as well. Why is BMW still using these tires and soaking good customers this my girls second lease with BMW before this one she had a 530i without run flat tires with no issues.

Why fight with it at all? Put on some good tires that you will enjoy for the next three years.

The runflats suck anyway regardless of bulge problems. BMW doesn't choose those tires because they are great. They are chosen because it helps with gas mile ratings (I think).

If a leased car came with runflats then it has to have runflats on it when you turn it in after the lease or pay a penalty.

Keep them and put them back on. Having tires swapped is a pretty inexpensive process at the end of three years.

That's intelligence at work! Would be worth it to restore the car to it's proper performance, and after 3 years a high performance set of summer tires are pretty worn anyway.
