First of all, THANK YOU to all of you for sharrimg your time and knowledge on this board. I'm very grateful for the valuable info gathered from you which help me understand how leasing works and how to negociate a good deal.
I finally signed the lease for a 2012 x5 diesel with premium package. I was waiting for the MY 2013 x5 diesel, but since nobody knows at this p[oint the prices, availability, if is going to have to 8 speed AT, etc, I found the current deal way to appealing and pulled the trigger. The MSRP for my car is 61,095. The invoice is 56,725. Minus 4,500 eco minus 1000 olympic drive minus 750 loyalty minus 200 dealer discount ( yes, they sold it BELOW invoice ) equals 50,275. This is the selling price. I used 7 MSD wich lower the money factor to 0.96 The monthly payment for 12k miles/year, 3 years lease is $564.18, tax included Cash due: 4200 ( & MSD ) + 564 ( first month payment ) + 122.50 ( tax 1,750 cap reduction ) + 725 acquisition fee + 170 DMV fee + 349 doc fee + 88 tax on fees = 6,226 I'm very happy with then deal and eagerly waiting for the new car to arrive. Too bad I was not able to get the additional 500 from BMW FS from Ultimate Drive Ultimate APP; I'm not a current BMW FS customer. Again, many thanks to all for helping me. Happy and safe driving to all! |

Hope you do get the 8 speed, its a great gearbox and transforms the X5 completely. Also gives you better miles per gallon.

the 8 speed is not available on 2012 diesel; that's why I was waiting and hoping that the info on MY 2013 will help me make an informed decision. The uncertainty of the availability of 4500 eco credit beyond October and the 1K olympic drive discount expiration at the end of October determined me to sign the deal on 2012 with 6 speed AT.

They say the new X5 will start production next year, whether that is April or Sept production? is yet to be realised, but I heard the current X5 production run as of the beginning of this year had 16 months to run, which would make the new X5 Sept production 2013. The problem in the US is only cetain BMW diesel engines have passed emissions, so a change of engine/gearbox may not happen until the new X5 model for the US.

Congratulations on a great car and a great deal! I am curious about the $750 loyalty since you said you are not a BMW FS customer. Can you get the loyalty rebate without being a customer? Also, I think you can get the Ultimate App credit even if you are not a customer.

Great news about your new X5. I'm curious about the $4,500 eco credit. I was of the impression this credit went away the end of August. Is it still available? I couldn't find anything about it on the BMW website.

Hey FG,
yes, you can get the 750 loyalty if you have a BMW ( I have 2, currently ), you don't have to be a BMW FS customer. You said that I can get the BMW Ultimate drive discount even though I'm not currently a BMW FS customer, do you know how? BMW's website and dealer say that I have to have an active BMW FS account in order to download the APP and get the coupon. Thanks |

I am not sure, but I was told by a dealer that you can get the App discount without being a customer. You might want to enquire with another dealer.

MSD = Monthly Security Deposit
So, the montly payment is rounded up to the next 50 ( my 564/month was rounded up to 600 ) and I put down $4,200 refundable deposit. Because of the 7 MSD, the money factor was lowered from 1.45 to .96 which lowered the monthly payment by approx $40/month 40/month x 36 month = $1,440 savings over the 3 years lease, not a bad return on $4,200 refundable deposit. MSD is allowed in CT, but not in NY. Not sure about other states. I think it goes by the state where the dealer is located, not by the state where the client resides. Hope this helps. |
