Welcome to Bimmerfest! I've moved your question over to the E30 forum, you will get more feedback here. The rule I heard for E30 M3 is that you need about 20K to get one. You either buy a good one for 20K or by on in need of work for cheaper and spend the rest getting it back into shape. Is this your budget range?

Expect a heap for that price from what I've seen.

A few years ago they had the 15k rule. You can spend 15k to get a nice one that is in good condition or spend less and it will cost you the difference of 15k to get it there.

It seems that rule has now become the 25k rule. Especially with the price of parts. Also, if the car has an original S14 engine it will be worth more.

5300 is extremely low. You'd be lucky to find a shell.

You said you are willing to "fix it up". I would set aside 15k. You will be looking a higher mileage ones (close to 200k) AND that are in rough shape (Need paint work, interior work, engine work).

Don't be afraid of higher mileage ones. The S14 is very capable and if the car is maintained and has the records to prove it, a higher mileage car can go in the mid 20's or more. It's all about the history of the car.

What are your intentions? Track? Daily Driver? Restoration to become a garage queen?

Stay away from rebuilt/salvage. Accidents are ok as long as they are well documented and repairs done properly.

Get one for cheap then start fixing it up to make it look like a race car haha but right now I just want a price range and mileage range for a regular stock one.

E30 M3's (overall) have appreciated and now will cost you more than the E36, E46, and in a couple years the the E90/E92/E93 (more than some now).

Hmmmm...hmmmmm...

So, interesting thread.

$20k would get you a decent E30 M3, huh?

Will have to look into this...
