I have the USB maps from the dealer and have used it several times thanks to this thread. I have a couple questions that I hope someone can answer:

1. Will this USB version also work with HU_NBT navigation?
2. For E Series CIC units with a build date prior to 09/2009 I need the DVDs, is that correct?
3. If #2 is correct, do the DVDs stay in the car or is the content copied to the car like it is with the USB in later cars?
4. If #2 is correct, does anyone have the 2013 North American DVDs that I can download?

1) No. NBT Maps are different from CIC Maps.
2) Maybe. It works for some pre 09/2009 builds and not others. Reason is unknown.
3) The 3 DVD version installs one time to hard drive then you are done with the discs.
4) I have yet to see 2013 North America Premium CIC on DVD Media, although Europe exists.

Well, I thought the frequency of requests for updates on pre-09/2009 CIC cars would be rare but I got two of them today. I don't want to buy the code, find out it won't work, and then have to eat the cost. Any suggestions? I could just implement a cutoff but if there's some work-around, or if the odds of it not working are low, I'll would like to keep the option available.

It is a crap shoot is all I can say.

What are you doing though, buying FSC Codes and then performing map updates for people and charging them?

You make it sound dirty. I have a feature coding business and this is another option I offer. Yes, I buy the code and then do the update at the same time as the coding. I'm very up front about it. Maps are easy but a lot of people are would rather just pay someone a small fee to do it for them.

Actually, I was just trying to understand what it is you were doing. If you knew me, you would know my position on charging people for coding, which is well documented in several threads, and it is one of indifference. There will always be people unable or unwilling to code their cars, and if they choose to pay some one to do so, then so be it.

I think that is wise, lest you be stuck with an unusable FSC Code.

You are not going to have much luck finding the FSC Generator program. You need to buy the FSC Code from someone who does, and some can do it just by VIN without the 1B File.

is there any necessary code to update the DVD maps of an 2006 e90 K-can CCC ? Or to update ths GPS firmware ?
I heard the codes where introduced in 2006 (maybe necessary to updates that car ?) but I'm not sure.

CCC DVD based Nav systems do not require FSC Code.
