HK speakers giving out

Today I noticed my music was only outputting from the driver door. As the day progressed, the passenger door speakers kicked in at some point, by outputting a lot of garbly interference.

I'm not sure how this happened since I haven't blasted the speakers to any unreasonable level since having the car. This leads me to ask two questions:

1. Is there somewhere in the settings where one can toggle which speakers the audio comes out of (e.g. left, right, back, front).

and

2. Has anyone else had this issue or heard of it? I will take it to a dealer whenever I get the chance.

1. Either bad speakers
2. or if you were using a music player and the USB interface, maybe the jack/cable is not making good connection.
3. or general audio failure of the amp/receiver

Does it do it on all inputs? IPOD/AM/FM/Sat radio?

My speakers suddenly stop playing too. Weird. Not worth a trip to the dealer.

That sounds like it's worth a trip to the dealer to me.

Turns out that the cord from my iPod wasn't secure

But I'm guessing BMW doesn't provide the option to toggle speaker output from Front to Rear, etc?

I have to believe that you can fade the sound from front to back and left to right. Even the most basic head units should be able to do that.

From the owner's manual, page 188:

Treble, bass, balance, and
fader
***9655; "Treble": treble adjustment.
***9655; "Bass": depth adjustment.
***9655; "Balance": left/right volume distribution.
***9655; "Fader": front/rear volume distribution.

Setting treble, bass, balance, and fader
1. "CD/Multimedia", "Radio" or "Settings"
2. "Tone"
3. Select the desired tone settings.
4. To adjust: turn the controller.
5. To store: press the controller.

I've got a 5 minute commute so living without a radio is no big deal. Prior to buying the car I had never even turned on an F30's radio.
