12 volt port under glove box

My 2014 F30 has a 12 volt "cigarette lighter" port under the glove box. However, there is no protective cover on it like there is on the center console, the rear seat and in the trunk.

Anyone else that has gotten a new F30 -- did yours come with a protective cover? Or is it just a hole waiting for a finger to be stuck in it?

Thanks!

A plug is not provided, even going back to the socket's first appearance in the E90 platform. Many people can't even find it, let alone inadvertently stick a finger in it.

Ha, I hadn't even found that one. Will check later.

Nope, that had a dedicated (non-cigar-lighter) socket in the glovebox...back when it existed, which it has not for many years.

Mine does not have a cover. It is also deeper so a cigarette lighter doesn't engage, which is probably safer as heat rises.

I put the cigarette lighter cover (cap) on the socket under the glove box and put a genuine BMW OEM cigarette lighter in the center console/ashtray. MINIs cigarette lighter is also exactly the same if you want to go to a MINI dealer.

2006 was the last year for that, wasn't it? My 05 had one. Not much of a flashlight, but a cool gimick. The tool kit that came with it was twice (or 3x) as large as what you get now too. N4S
