Year end push?

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) has shifted “tens of thousands” of cars that were originally targeted for Europe to the U.S. and Asia this year as sales weaken in the crisis-hit region.
“Challenges in Europe are getting greater,” Ian Robertson, sales chief for the world’s largest luxury-car brand, said to reporters today at a company event in Munich. The region faces “a lot of bumps on the road” before it stabilizes and an auto-market recovery could take years, he said.
Europe’s car industry is poised to suffer its biggest annual sales drop in 19 years in 2012. Munich-based BMW has avoided the brunt of the European sovereign-debt crisis thanks to demand in the U.S. and China for models like the new 3-Series sedan. The brand sold 14 percent more cars and sport-utility vehicles in September globally, helping boost nine-month deliveries 8.6 percent to 1.11 million vehicles.
Robertson said he expects “good” growth in the U.S. in October and November, and China is still attractive, even if growth has slowed since the beginning of the year.

might this be part of an interesting year for holiday incentives?

Yes. There will be a huge Holiday Cash year-end push. You can quote me on that, so get those orders in NOW so you will have a car already in production when the details are made public.

Jon, is it typically a November/December thing or exclusively for December? Narrowed my choices down to two vehicles (one scheduled for early Nov arrival and one for early Dec arrival) and the Holiday Push would definitely sway my decision.

Any idea what the deals could be? Like to know before I commit.

sigh. unless they extend the pull ahead to march 2013 leases i'll have to eat 3 payments to take advantage

Keep in mind BMW or any maker for that matter, can't just "shift" vehicles that were meant for Europe to the USA. The regulations, specs, laws and requirements are different for various countries. I think this means they are building more USA spec cars than European. This would not effect SUV's as they all come from S.Carolina. Should mean alot of inventory stateside.

I think what they mean is that they will shift production allocations to BMW NA and BMW Asia.

I couldn't share the details even if I had the bulletin just yet about the Holiday Cash, etc.., I am sure you all will know everything in 2 weeks. I can share my suspicion that the year-end programs will NOT be "lockable" are we are used to from the past, the emphasis will be on cars DELIVERABLE by end of year...

Therefore, again, if you have a particular spec vehicle in mind, make sure you get a production number that is pretty far along (112 status late October/early Nov build) asap!

Maybe some deals on 5's, 6's, and 7's,

High gas-suckers like the 550 i doubt are on the list.......however, that might be nice!

I am scheduled to take delivery of a 135i on Nov. 12th but have not presented the signed paperwork and check to the dealer: if some kind of holiday incentive comes out before that date would I be entitled to it? I would think so, depending on the specifics of course, but usually a buyer gets whatever incentives are in place on the date of delivery, right? The only hitch is that I am taking delivery at the Performance Center so I need to complete the paperwork beforehand.

If new rates and programs come out you will probably know by Nov 3rd, so you should probably plan to sign after that.

The real question is if you would be willing to wait until December, just to make sure you don't miss out on even better rates or incentives.

The car can only be held at the Performance Center for a finite period of time, and it was hard enough to coordinate time off to make it work for the Nov. 12th delivery. So if an incentive is announced in the next 2 weeks I'll try to get that but not hold out for more!

Besides, I am getting .49% for 48 months with zero down so the only incentive I'd be interested in is cash!
