BMW Software Updates for phone/music...

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp
I just updated my 2012 AH7's iPhone/iPod with this link, after noticing the car's software was outdated. Very simple process thru center console's USB.

Thanks for the heads up, did the same. Took all of 2 minutes, just threw the file on a thumb drive, stuck it in the car's usb port and software update.

What is the date of this update for how does one tell if the update is necessary? I just picked up my 2012 750i.

December update. My build date is March, and had older software installed.

Thanks Sonic,

Tried that earlier. Didn't really describe changes between updates. 06Black was correct with the last update being December. Since my build date was after that I installed the download without a hitch.

DBS, No noticeable difference with the update so far. The transfer of my 2000 contacts from my iPhone each time is still very slow.

When I download the ".bin" file from the website, what do I do with it; simply move it over to a USB flash drive? Thanks!

Update complete and haven't noticed any difference.

Hoped it would permit text messaging and e-mail via iDrive.

When is this functionally coming out? Thought it would be here already!

UPDATE:

I've been able to get text messaging working on iDrive, but no e-mail. Anyone having difficulty should be sure to have "Show Notifications" turned on and to have "Office" checked under "Configure Bluetooth".

QUESTIONS:

1. How does this affect battery life? Aside from using Bluetooth for telephone calls and "Transferring Contacts", does this additional functionally wear the battery more so?

2. Is there a way to reply to incoming messages directly via iDrive instead of having to take your phone out of your pocket?

3. What does checking "Show Images" do?

4. Any advice on getting e-mail to work?

dbs, I think it's the difference between a Blackberry vs. Iphone - I have both in the car. On one phone, I get the email via Office; on the other, I think I only get the texts - strange but I think there's a comprehensive post on the site I found back in June.
