2008 335i and Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon model phone

Does anyone have this combination? Can you pair via bluetooth to make and receive calls? Do your contacts transfer to iDrive??? This is the only item that is holding me back from getting this phone (switching from Iphone 4S which currently works great- wanting a bigger screen and Iphone 5 is disappointing IMHO)...

TIA

I have a Galaxy Nexus, a very similar phone. Pairing and contacts work almost perfectly.

The only problem I have is if I am on the phone and start the car up. The BMW immediately connects via BT and takes over the sound, so the phone goes silent. But it takes about 30 seconds for the BMW to actually let me hear the call. This is quite annoying when it happens, but luckily I'm not often on the phone while getting into my car.

This is a BMW issue, not a phone issue. My last car had a cheap aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth, and it handled this transition without this problem.

My Nexus paired fine until the recent update to Jelly Bean now everything works fine except the contacts transfer Jelly Bean seems to have broken the phone book transfer feature.

I've been looking through the Android forums and this seems to be an issue with JB and some car/phone combos. If you know anyone with an S3 trying pairing there's and see if it works.

This is great news! I hardly am on the phone as I start the car so this would not be an issue with me..My main concerns are making calls, receiving calls and making sure contacts transfer..
Thanks!

Update to my situation. My phone started having other issues so I used a toolkit and flashed it with a stock image and after repairing the phone book transferred with no problem. I'm guessing whatever the problem was affected the PB transfer as well.

So I think you'll be fine with the SIII.

EDIT:

I went an checked the BMW phone compatability section and the SIII will transfer contacts when paired.
