2005 325I $3500 West Palm area-MUST SELL TODAY

My friend (school teacher) had no intention of selling her car until a few days ago. She has owned it since new and it has been great. The car has 85,000 miles on the odometer. Brakes/rotors were done 25,000 miles ago, and tires have only 14,000 miles on them. Here's the problem: it overheated on I95 a couple of weeks ago and by the time she pulled off onto the exit ramp shoulder, she had damaged the radiator and overflow tank. She just paid a shop in WPB $1500 for the following repair work:

new radiator, water pump, expansion tank, thermostat and housing, radiator cap, upper radiator hose, and
transmission cooler.

We picked up the car from the shop and headed home and the check engine light came on after a few miles. White smoke was coming from the exhaust. After it cooled down we drove it back to the shop. Now they say it probably needs a new head gasket for $1000 or a new cylinder head which should run about $2000 installed or possibly even a used motor swap at a total cost of $3000-4000. Bottom line is she WILL NOT PUT ANY MORE GOOD MONEY INTO THIS CAR. If you are mechanically inclined, this is a good opportunity to get a good car for half of what it is worth if fully functional. All the new parts put into it are like a freebie to the new buyer.

The body is in great condition and it has been garaged every night since new. The interior is in great condition and it has never been smoked in.

We towed the car to the new car dealer who was taking it in trade, but after being jerked around for 3 hours, they didn't honor the deal I negotiated for her two days earlier. The car is sitting in their parking lot in front of the Hyundai dealership.

A mechanic friend has offered $3000 for the car, but the first $3500 will take it. The car will be sold today to the highest bidder. It is listed on Craigslist.
