2011 X5 Purchase with 55K Miles

Looking to purchase 2011 X5 with 55K miles on it. Going to have it checked tomorrow with Mech. What should I be looking for with this Auto? With these miles on it?

Thanks

Any leaks- hoses, valve cover gaskets, etc. ANY leaking or weeping, no matter how slight. ANYTHING.

Connect tot he DME and pull any codes that might have registered

Id like to test the AC system, but you probably can only do a quick "what is the air temp when it is running full cool". RUn it on recirculate, measure the air inside and compare to the air out of the center outlets. I think you want to see 30 drop?? Also, compare left and right side temps, should be the same.
Driving test- transmission shifting behavior; pulling, vibrations

You want to have them look for any signs of repairs- body panel alignment, overspray, non-standard fasteners used,

Would really rather have a warranty.... is this a no-history car? Lease/loaner/whatever, sold at auction? Or is this a single owner private party, who can give you service records???

No major issues. If it is a 35i, check history for HPFP replacements. If it's a diesel, look for others.

And why are you looking at this particular car? They are literally hundreds of X5s out there post-11 that don't have 55k miles. Not to mention, they come with the remainder of the warranty. Something very important with these cars.

Trust them? Come on. It's a dealer. Find a CPO at a BMW dealer and get a PPI done

55K means someone else had a LOT of fun and was smart enough to dump it before the repairs kicked in. Unless you are getting a crazy cheap deal, go for something in the 20-30k range because you'll also have a hard time selling it once you add your miles. I bought my '11 X5M w/ 19k miles and am absolutely planning on getting rid of it by 60k

Due to the messages I received I did not purchase

Thanks for all the comments I really do appreciate the feedback. I decided not to purchase this auto. Others will come along with less mileage.

Good information - I have 2011 model, 45K miles. Must decide between extending the warranty or replacing the car. Very clean, no problems yet. Will likely drive 15K miles per year going forward. In three years I will have 90K miles so 10K miles under the warranty remaining, or one year - whichever comes first. Cost for Gold warranty and maintenance is about $7K. One final twist. The trade-in value is subtracted from the sales price so I dont pay the Cook County and State Sales taxes of approx 10%. Any thoughts?

- Extend the warranty, but NOT the service maintenance plan.

- Learn to do the oil changes and brake jobs yourself.

- Get an EVP Plan (see attached). I have included MSRP pricing that was given to me by my dealer. Expect to be able to negotiate UP TO 10% from MSRP. Shop around. Don't have to buy from your dealer.
