New member with a question
Hi guys,
Just picked up a 2002 M3 convertible with 70,000 miles! Been loving every minute of it. My question is in regard to the manual transmission. Every time I try to get into 3rd or 5th, I get a grinding noise and it is hard to get it into the gears. All others are fine but its 3rd and 5th that are causing the problems. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Thanks in advance guys and glad to join the M3 forum now!

Welcome! Congrats on your new toy. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like an internal transmission issue. Possible synchro or shift lever since its 3 and 5. You'll need to drain the transmission and see if you can find traces of metal shavings. If it weren't for the grinding noise I would suggest the spring/ball repair for transmission.
Good luck! |
