pulsing (not surging) at idle?
the rev gauge stays constant , but sometimes when i start my e30 it feels like it's pulsing rather than a smooth idle, the exhaust sounds like it's pulsing , sometimes the car gets a shake to it as a result of the pulsing. My engine mounts are not broken.
other stuff which may or may not be related, the other week i suspected it is running rich due to strong exhaust smell, if I quickly open the throttle with my hand it will dip and nearly cut out before the revs increase. I am thinking vacuum leak, engine temp gauge, fuel filter? I have a new air filter to put in it sometime soon. Any other ideas?

Idle control Valve needs some cleaning I'd say

Sounds like your running rich.. I'd say replace that engine coolant sensor.

Check/change spark plugs and leads. Sticky valve?
