alternater

I have a 1998 bmw 528I and my mechanic told me I need to replace my alternater soon, I was wondering if anyone has a write up for a diy or should I just pay him to do it? I can't search the forums via phone app so I'd appreciate it for the help!

One way to save some significant $$ is to ask your mechanic if you can provide the part. They shop on line for a quality rebuilt from a reputable online seller. You could easily save yourself $300 or more.

Cn90 has posts showing alternator bearing and brush replacement. If you can remove your alternator you should be able to rebuild it. It's really not that hard.
