Is the 2001 X5 4.4L engine a valve / piston "interference" engine?

I might buy an inop X5 for a reasonable price that has a completely ruined timing chain....off the cam sprocket....even broke the valve cover.....

Before I completely write off the engine and shop for a good used one, I thought I would see if the 4.4 can survive a "completely" off the sprocket jump by the timing chain.

Have the pistons kissed the valves goodnight? or is there a chance of reviving the motor with new timing components?

Anyone have any experience with this situation?

Thank you in advance for any input!

You can always fix it with enough money. Yes they can kiss.
