Replacing fuel injectors
Chances are I am going to need to replace some injectors on a 2003 BMW 760li. Any idea why there is such a large price difference going from Artex/Wells and Standard to Bosche? Thanks

I would just get it genuine BMW. You can find online for $100 from several dealers. You have the part from your earlier post (13647512081).

Send them off to:www.rceng.com
All 12, get them rebuilt, clean and flowed. They will be better than new. I do it to mines in my race bike ever other season. Sent from my EVO using Bimmer App

RC does not "rebuild" injectors
Quote:
that said, I looeked at their site again, after many years of not needing to. They still do "not" "rebuild" injectors. Injectors are usually staked together, or potted in solid plastic or some other polymer and cannot be opened up. RC Engineering cleans injectors and flow-tests them on a bench and provide you a chart. Works for your bike and other high-performance low-miles vehicles. Not what a higher miles car necessarily needs. I've used them once or twice to clean and bench a motor's injectors I got from say, a nice wreck, just to make sure they were all flowing the same amount, before installing the motor into an older car. It's cheap insruance, --if the injectors are just old in age, but not necessarily high-miles. That said, many older injectors fail because they are frozen and no longer operable. Or the electronics inside start to sperate and fall apart, due to 10 years under the hood, the heat cycles, the high miles, and the vibration. Injectors can usually be tested for basic operation in the car with a voltage source and a couple of probes. Check first for if it's 12 or 5v they want. If they click, then maybe clean them, if no clickie, I would replace. |

I think the mechanic is trying that first - he's had the car three weeks so far....as long as it's not the HPFP I am happy.
