HELP - Passenger Seat Won't Move
My car is ONE week old today and the passenger front seat will not move forward or backward! It was working earlier today when my wife was driving the car. We got out and came back and it wouldn't move. It will tilt, etc., it just won't move forward or back. There is nothing in the car on the floor to prevent it from moving... Anything I can do before taking it in to the dealership? Thanks.

Did you check the fuses?

Just got the car so haven't learned where everything is yet... Where are the fuses? And also, what number is the fuse to check? Thanks.

Sorry... I am still planning the purchase of mine. I've read that the fuse boxes are either under hood or in the trunk... But. I should defer to the real owners to confirm. In any case I would rule out taking the car to the dealer, after all even if i is a fuse you want to make sure what the cause was, lest you ignore a possible short circuit somewhere.

Fuses are in the glove box. Take this opportunity to read your owner's manual.

Right after we picked up our car and stopped off to have some lunch, my wife wanted to move the passenger seat but it didn't want to move forward or backward. Shut down the ignition thinking this would be a trip to the dealers, but when we came back from lunch, lo and behold, the seat worked. Maybe it was hungry too?

It maybe, that you fiddled to much with it and shut down to prevent overheating.

Just tried it this morning (without doing anything such as checking the fuses) and it worked... Very weird... What would have caused that? I don't think I "fiddled" with it beyond what is normal. When I got in the car yesterday, it just wouldn't move forward or backward. Today, it works.

There is a seat calibration procedure in your manual, give that a shot.

I've found this car acts like a computer sometimes and needs a 'reboot'. If something doesn't work try shutdown/lock give it a minute then restart.

Just hope the computer doesn't "crash" during a drive, lol.

Happened to my wife and I today. Passenger seat would not move forward or backwards. It would tilt, go up and down, etc.. But it wouldn't go forward or backwards.
A few minute later, it worked. 2013 328i less than 100 miles. Software glitch? |
