E39 2001 BMW M5 Imola on Caramel Extended Leather

I bought this from the 2nd owner, it was an older gentleman that had it as a weekend/fun car. It has been VERY well maintained before I owned it, I have all records from brand new. I do all my own maintenance as I have been working on BMW's for over 10 years now. I also do detail work, so the exterior is in great shape, it is a 11 year old car so there are rock chips, but nothing out of the ordinary. I drove it one winter in MN, there is ZERO rust on the car.

Since I have owned it I added:

UUC V12 conversion clutch and Flywheel
UUC Black Transmission Mount with enforcers
AFE Intake (not included)
Shark Injector software
E60 short shifter
Alcantara Shift Boot (not included)
BC Coilovers
+maintenance items



Bad: The drivers side door strip has a dent in it, from when I took the trim off to detail (it dropped and I caught it at a wrong angle) and the rear drivers door lower window trim has dents in it, from me putting it back onto the door using a rubber mallet...it left mallet marks (stupid on my part!). Other then that the car is pretty much top shape, as I said, I really planned to keep this indefinitely, but figured I would test the waters to see if anyone would be interested.

It's a bit pricey for the mileage, but not out of the question.

You say you do detail work, but the car is visibly dirty. It's a great car and I'm sure someone would love it. Feelers like this may require more time to get a gauge of interest. Also try m5board.com

Probably should not have posted that question here, I have had it up for sale on M5board and bimmerforums for about a month or so, and I have only had one person with a little interest. The other pics were when someone asked for interior and "issues" pics, so I snapped them one day when I was at work. I do detail work but I don't wash my car daily, usually once a week is good.

It is priced that way because of all the work that has go into it, everything has been addressed that are major M5 wear items...so someone could find one with a little less miles or cheaper, but then you are going to have to put work into it, ie) $2-3K in replacing wear items.

I am just surprised I have not gotten more interest in the car, thanks for the response.

I didn't mean to be harsh. Honestly if I was in the market for one, yours would be near the top of the list. You've kept good records while you have had it and the car looks like it is well kept. The miles are near the sweet spot and it isn't over priced.

Good luck! I'm sure someone out there would love to buy it.

Not harsh at all, I know its a little higher then some out there right now, so that makes sense. I have just seen people that list theirs on M5board and they are gone in days...so I am like why mine no SELLZ, lol! Thanks a ton for the reply, that was exactly what I was looking for!

I am up and down about selling the car...but it needs to go to a good home, I have TOO many other things on my plate!

Final drop, I am going to take off the intake as well as the shift knob, shift surround, put the stock headlights back in, which will need to have the adjusters replaced, and anything else that was not standard on the car.

No one is looking for a great Imola on Caramel with all the maintenance items done??? I Maybe flexible on upgraded parts included with the sale.

New engine mounts and tie rods going to be installed next week. A 4 wheel alignment will be done once the tie rod ends are in AND Winter tires are mounted!!!

$16000 including all mods? Found a car, but I would like to sell this first.

I'm in the market for a 2003 e39 540 but your car has captured my attention! It's nearly the price range I'm considering too. I'd have to convince the wife how much I NEED it, not just want it, though. Plus, you are on the other side of the country from me which will add to the overall amount I'd have to spend. Either way, good luck with the sale. It's a beautiful car!

Bump, it is put away for the winter, for the most part, currently has 1324xx miles on it.

+1. Constructively I would like to suggest taking some new pictures and moving the ones in the OP into an album that you can link to. I always respect honest sellers who are upfront with any flaws, but the place to show them is not in your headline.

I will get them up in a few days, its been -1-10's this weekend, I didnt want to wake the sleeping beast. I will try to take some when it warms up in the next few days.

Interested if I include my extra set of Style 65's? I would like to move this car, reasonable offers accepted.

It seems that people think the price is a little high I wanted to explain my rational. EVERYTHING maintenance wise has been taken care of on this car, UUC V12 clutch ($3000), BC Coilovers ($1000), Headlights ($700), Short Shifter/shift surround and ZHP Knob ($250), Muffler delete ($300), Front suspension components ($500), Extra Set of Style 65's ($1000)...etc. The miles are almost all highway miles, picked it up in Oklahoma (700 miles), as I used to travel 200+ miles every weekend for a year (10000 miles there), then went to and from California (5000 miles), and normal travel driving etc... So to add that up I have spent $6000-6500 above and beyond the purchase price of the car. Someone will be getting a deal on this car, I know it is a $1000-$2000 more then some cars, but you WILL have to put at least several thousand into the car when you buy it, so have it done already and add the bits to personalize the car to your self, or buy something that will need all the maintenance done, it is 6 of one and 1/2 a dozen of the other at that point.
