Unhappy car is locked down and will not respond to remote

HI all. I was working on the driver door regulator and had the radio on the whole time. When done I pulled the key out and put it back in to start the car...all was fine, but the radio code message came on. I entered the code I have and every time I entered it the radio would beep. The directions say to start the code input all over, which I did and each time it would not complete. It started to let me complete the code, but on the last digit entered it would beep again and never cleared so the radio would work. I tried the old "I am too smart for my own good aproach" and started messing with the remote. I had done this before and cleared everything. Now the code message is on the computer (with the 4 digits to enter, which I do not know) and now the car has locked on me. It will not do anything. When I put the key in and turn to position 1 or 2 the dash lights and asks for code on radio and OBD (I think) and is dead. I am trying to reprogram the remote by doing the press 3 or five seconds, pull key and press 3 and hold...then press and hold 2 as well for 3 taps and release, etc. So far nothing. I have a feeling I need to contact my BMW dealer or mechanic and maybe he can give me the code for the car. ANY HELP would be appreciated. Thanks again as always everyone. Dale

Unlock the car fully and if possible lower one window. Disconnect battery. Have a long coffee. Re-connect battery. That should clear the code and allow you to start the car. Proceedure is in owner manual. I would leave a window down in case the car decides to lock up when battery reconnected. Not unknown.
