hey everyone thanks for viewing the post i am clueless as to whats going on here
i have a 2000 323i i had my power steering rack replaced then i get the dreaded call "was your traction control light on?" so long story short i get my car back traction control light is on red brake light is on tachometer is not working engine temp gauge maxes out soon as i start the car fuel gauge is working but fuel estimation does not work ive verified the fuses are ok i was thinking maybe the cluster but the speedo is working fine the garage replaced the clock ring in the steering wheel thinking they screwed it up while doing the rack. i would greatly appreciate any input or suggestions |

Any idea how old the battery is ?

Could be a defective battery or even alternator then.
Have you used the OBC to check the voltage? Or if that won't work, back to the old fashioned VOM? I'm not dismissing that you just had the shop change out your rack. And if I could think of some connection, I'd surely pass that along. But on the surface of it, I cannot think of anything close to the rack that would affect your cluster. Nonetheless, I'd probably want to get under there to see if any wires in the rack vicinity look disturbed. And did they go in from the top and remove the MAF and boot perhaps? Make sure the battery`s ground connection (to the body) is clean and tight.

obc battery test was 14
i did the cluster test was ok as well all gauges did function ground is clean and on there well Last edited by murraye82; 10-04-2012 at 11:00 AM. |

I had the same problem today.. I changed the fuses for the cluster and it seemed to have fixed it. check them and see if they are blown. The three fives for my cluster were.

He already said the fuses are good. But it might be good to check them for good solid contact.
