im 99% sure its compatible, but they have said the android version isnt newarly as stable as the other ones they have. so unless you are familiar with the rooting and hacking processes of android i dont suggest it, ALSO if u have DSP PREMIUM package i dont think they work, i cant quite remember, once i find the thread ill link you to it, im sure a search will bring up all the info necessary

it works, you likely don't have DSP but you should be sure. Do some web searching on the topic, but here are some helpful threads

Root your phone...relocate the factory radio (if desired) to the trunk or glove box for obc functions. It is not that hard to modify a double din mounting kit to fit a tablet. The 7 inch market is growing for tablets and fits easily. I would think this could be done by placing a normal single din radio behind the tablet... Hook it up via a crappy head phone jack/3.5mm aux to the aftermarket head unit (which is not floating somewhere behind this tablet). Windows 8 comes out in less than a month...I would expect several tablets available in the 7 inch range (including the ones with the ARM processor).

I have a friend who did an install in a newer gti and it is sweet...I am sure I can get details/photos if so desired.
