Just want to say welcome to a fellow motorcycle enthusiast & Bimmer lover. I really can't suggest a certain model but really envy your journey of getting to try out different new models to see which one speaks to you. Me, I've had to buy used, '92 318ic (conv.) had for 16 yrs., '88 325 had for 15 yrs. & just picked up a new to us '01 325xi. Good luck & let us know how it goes!

Welcome aboard !

While we`re all of the opinion that BMWs are truly great cars, owning one that`s out of warranty can be a ($$$$) painful experience unless you`re willing to perform a lot of the maintainance and repairs yourself.

The E46 (3-Series) is highly-regarded, and considered by many to be the high-water mark for DIY-able sports sedans.

E46 Forum members have assembled a very comprehensive Wiki to help guide people along, as seen here:http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php/BMW_E46

Happy Hunting !
