New to bimmerfest & bmw

Hello, I'm new to this forum & a 1st time beamer owner. I've been searching the forums trying to locate a good, honest Indy mechanic in the LA area. I saw a post that directed me here. I purchase my car from a private owner, I called a dealership & found out warranty was up 3 years ago. My service engine soon light came on Wed of this week. Came off on Thur am and came back on yesterday. Can some please guide me in the right direction? Thank you

First I would like to point out, (lest you face ridicule from the hardcore BMW owners here), that we refer to our cars as "Bimmers", (hence "Bimmerfest"!), and motorcycles are "Beemers".
Your car is throwing a 'code', which can only be read by someone with the proper equipment. A good BMW Indy can usually do this.
