90,xxx - overall it's running pretty good. MPG is pretty good as well - I'm getting over 300 miles per tank which is similar to what I get on my 325i.... It could be me but it feels like I have lost a little power in certain situations but my girlfriend disagrees.

If you have the time read through this thread: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=894896

It's very long but has a a lot of troubleshoots that could possibly help. When I had this error code in my e46 I was fortunate that it was just the intake boot had a crack. Are you sure your X3 is only throwing 1 code?

I read about 7 pages through the link above, and the overall consensus was:

Test for vacuum leaks (This should be checked first before anything, usually done by a smoke test)
MAF - faulty/needs cleaning
Intake boot
Fuel Filter needs replacement
Fuel system needs cleaning
dipstick needs new o-rings
O2 sensors
CCV
ICV

Hope it helps

Just got the price it's gonna be btw $125-130 (parts/labor) My question is - will I tell any difference after replacing these parts?

While driving in this cold/rainy/windy weather this morning - my "check gas cap" light came on.... I checked the cap and all looked well - I bought a new cap about 3 weeks ago and I notice it wasn't the exact cap......

It might not be a gas cap issue then, even though the "gas cap" light comes on. Let us know what happens when you put the old one on.

The new gas cap has more plastic parts in it than the original stock one. Feels flimsier too.
I'm not sure why, but the dealer switched to a different part.

Did you ever figure out what was causing the code P0440 and were you able to fix it? SES light came up while driving home this evening, plugged in my scanner and got this P0440 code, been searching the web...only a few info from bad gas cap to fuel ventilation valve to knock sensor. Noone seems to have a good answer. thanks
