Buzzing relay

Hii my 94 316 suddenly conked out on me whilst driving down the road...when the ignition is turned on I have a buzzing noise pull out the relay it stops ive bypassed the earth to the relay as it was givin a poor read out on the power probe witch stopped the buzzing however ive only got a spark from the coil pack a 1 and 4 nothing from 2 and 3 could this be down to a faulty coil pack....the relay that is buzzing is the one closest to the bulkhead on the passenger side next to the fuse board can any1 shed some light on this problem as ive been scracting my head at this for a gd week now
