Name that Wheel - Need some help
Have a 2013 535i with sport package and am looking for a set of winter wheels.
Want to downsize to 18. I keep seeing wheels fitted on 5's on the road that I like, but always fleeting and don't catch the name/model. Characteristics:
Anyone know these? Thanks! . Last edited by ajm0824; 12-12-2012 at 09:41 PM. |

Wish I could be of more help. On my 550xi the sport package (not msport) came with 19" wheels (heavy sunsofagun) and they were made for Ronal in Poland. My winter wheels are 18"V spoke 281 Ronal wheels made in Germany (pictured here). It comes under a BMW part number.
I went with BMW's part number which included the 281, TMPS sensor, & Dunlop SP Wintersport 3D RFT

Those are 220M, the standard 19" wheel on the E9X M3.

I would imagine they would be unlikely to fit to well either.

The closest to the 220M I know of for a 5 is the E60 M5's 166M. I don't think it will fit an F10.

Those are the OEM style 220m 19" wheels that come standard on the E9X M3 models. If you're looking to downsize and are interested in that design, I'd recommend that you check out the E9X M3 style wheels which are available in the 18" fitment that you're looking for

Slight correction. The 220Ms are the optional forged 19" wheels on the E9X M3. The standards are cast 18". Also I don't think the OP is looking for E9X wheels but for F10 wheels that look like the 220Ms.

http://xbmw.blogspot.com/2010/04/exp...-5-series.html Though they are 19"s anyway. Can suggest quality similar ones in 18" variant that are tough? NY roads are already horrid and winters only make that worse. Only lower profile wheels I've had that have been able to stand up to conditions/driving have been a set of AMGs on my earlier MB. btw: these are on the shortlist, since are also close. Quote:

Solstice, the more I look the more I realize you are right and I've been seeing the 166 model.. great eye! Shame won't fit or doesn't come in 18" variant.
btw: found this sit in my research and though would be a good source to share. Is in german, but fairly intuitive to navigate (also, if using chrome, will translate it) http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ |

"Think I just found a picture of them on a 2010 F10 (attached)."
That looks like a poor rendering of what they thought the the F10 might look like. It looks like an E60 with E90 headlights. The wheels on that photoshop are 166M and they fit the E60 not the F10. They are great looking wheels but not a good winter choice. I would get something with less and bigger spokes for easier cleaning and strength towards side impact from ice and hidden obstacles and in 18" as you are looking for. Edit: Sorry for repeating what you wrote while I was writing. Last edited by solstice; 12-13-2012 at 03:59 PM. |

Agree with the cleaning, but I did like that look, thought I'd get something different to complement the ones I had. I'm not a big fan of the big block 5 stars. Found these that fit and later realized that these are the 18"s that come with the 528 sport package (style 350). Might make them easier to find secondhand from 528 owners who are upgrading. Left Pic, would be my summer, right, winter. I'll give it some time to mull it over (and probably change my mind 7 times before I get em) Thanks again for the help. |
